Meet Your Planner

Sonia Bartzis was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, IL. She is married to her best friend, and together they have three wonderful children who fill their lives with love and laughter. Their home is a blend of Greek and Mexican heritage, where traditions and delicious food bring their family closer together. Sonia’s faith is the foundation of her life, reminding her that God’s timing is always perfect, even in the waiting.

Sonia’s journey into wedding planning is rooted in her passion for creating meaningful, joyful experiences. She discovered her true calling: connecting with people and making them feel seen, supported, and celebrated. With 19 years in the corporate world, Sonia developed a strong foundation in organizing workflows and managing projects, giving her a meticulous eye for detail and a love for bringing clarity and calm to complex processes.

Her love for event planning blossomed in South Florida, where she had the incredible opportunity to work alongside some of the industry’s most talented professionals. This chapter of her life taught her the beauty of logistics and the magic of thoughtful planning. A pivotal moment came when Sonia joined one of South Florida’s top wedding planners where she played a key role in planning and bringing to life over 200 weddings and events at some of the region’s most prestigious venues, including The Breakers, Vizcaya, The Biltmore, Ritz Carlton, and The Boca Raton. Each event deepened her passion for curating experiences that are not only beautiful but deeply personal.

Returning to Chicagoland with her family felt like coming full circle. She was excited to plant roots in her hometown and bring her wealth of experience back to where it all began. Sonia is a certified wedding planner through the CWP Society and has over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry. With God’s blessing, hard work, and the unwavering support of her family, Sonia Bartzis Events was born.
